Join us to celebrate the 19th anniversary of Calpulli Tonalehqueh’s Aztec New Year the weekend of March 11-12th.
This is a multi-cultural, family event in celebration of the Aztec New Year beginning with a sunrise ceremony on Saturday at approximately 5:00am. The event will feature live entertainment, arts, crafts, info, food & beverage booths (no alcohol). Most of the entertainment will showcase traditional dances from Native Mexican and American culture.
Saturday: 5:00AM-6:00PM
Sunday: 9:00AM-5:30PM

Acompañenos a celebrar el 19 aniversario del año Nuevo Azteca Mexica del Calpulli Tonalehqueh el 11-12 de marzo. Esto es un evento multicultural y familiar en celebracion del ano nuevo azteca empezando con una ceremonia de amanecer acabo el sabado a las 5am. Habra musica en vivo, artesania, informacion, comida y bebidas (alcohol es prohibido). La mayoria del festival tendra bailes nativos y tradicionales de la cultura mexicana.

This conference is being targeted to youth ages 14 and up in the area surrounding where the conference will be taking place (Boyle Heights, ELA, DTLA and other surrounding areas) so if you know any youth who may be interested (even if they don’t live in the area), PLEASE INVITE THEM to this conference. It is 9 workshops on a bit of pre-columbian Mexico history plus additional info on how having knowledge (or lack thereof) of our cultural history affects us today. Children’s Corner also happening all day.

Desde 2004, la Marcha de Zapata en San Diego se organiza cada año entre Unión del Barrio, MEChA de SDSU, y con el apoyo de otros grupos comunitarios. Este año se incluye el Colectivo Zapatista de San Diego. La meta es respetar la memoria y honrar la lucha del General Emiliano Zapata, asesinado el 10 de abril, 1919. Esta Marcha debe siempre crear la unidad política entre diversos grupos para contribuir a la construcción de un movimiento juvenil en nuestra comunidad. 2014 marca el 10 aniversario de la Marcha de Zapata.

Come join us sunday march 10 2013 in celebrating the arrival of our new year ce-kali (one house) and the ending of our present year matlaktli ihuan yei (13 flint) on our beloved tonal maxiotl (aztek calendar). We will be celebrating with danza azteka throughout the day, we will have a workshop and how to use the aztek calendar in our lives today. We will have an art exhibition presented by some of our best artist in los angeles. Representing their cultural roots trough paint and canvas . Like fabian debora, ricardo estrada, gabriela malinalxochitl zapata, erica friend, raul gonzalez and nuke uti.
